Indigo Dye Workshop at Longue View House and Garden

Karen led another class on dying with natural indigo at Longue View house and Garden, this time with the support of Kate and Peter.   The class sold out, so we hope to do this again!   The participants use different shibori techniques to crate patterns on cotton napkins to learn the process.   Our hands only got slightly blue in the process!

Some of the work produced by the participants oxidizing to a dark blue after several dips in the dye vat.

Several different resists being tried out.   Students used wood shims, lids from jars, rubber bands, clothes pins, and other items to block the dye and make patterns on their napkins.
