Carnival is over

Another fun and successful carnival season is over in New Orleans, and we're all ready to get back to work at the Schoolhouse!

See a few photos below.  The Carnival season is a busy one for Kate, not only because she's sewing her own costumes, but because it's a busy season for her to create and sell her costume headpieces.

Peter has a show

Peter is showing three initial works in his series of portrait quilts "A Series of Men" at The Aquarium Gallery in New Orleans during the Month of January.     These were mainly worked on in the big studio space at The Crosby Schoolhouse.

The Crosby Schoolhouse comes to New Orleans

Karen, as part of Gadbois Design Studio, has had annual holiday sales of her products from her home in New Orleans for several years.  This year, she invited the Crosby Schoolhouse colleagues to contribute, and expanded to host two sales events in December.   Much of what was featured is also available on-line, including the scarves, quilts, dresses, sweaters, and pillows.

Thanksgiving at the Schoolhouse

This was the second year we celebrated thanksigiving with friends and family at the schoolhouse.  Thanks to our friend Ken, we now have a 17' dining room table complete with 20 chairs, so no more sitting on step stools at the coffee table for dinner when hosting big groups.   Kate, Peter, and Karen spent the week working in the studios, Kate on some linen chemises, Peter on on a portrait quilt, and Karen on sewing several pillows.
