Karen was born in Massachusetts, attended Mass College of Art with a concentration in textile design and printmaking.
Her primary areas of study have been in woven as well as printed fabrics with a focus on dyeing and hand manipulation of fabrics.
She spent 15 years in Mexico producing hand printed silks as well as working with the prison population producing a line of goods which she sold at her gallery in San Miguel.
After returning to the states she embarked on a career in journalism post-Katrina in New Orleans, she has secretly never given up her work in textiles.
